Amaya is an HTML browser and editor. It is the W3C implementation of the HTML standard and therefore it should be considered as the reference for HTML. Although the browsing feature seems painfully slow, it can be useful to test a website against HTML standard conformance. As an example, I have found a lot of HTML bugs in my pages using Amaya. However, even the buggy pages were properly displayed using Netscape or Internet Explorer.
If you only want to use browsing feature, try to activate the &lquo; mini-browser &rquo; option in the Special/Preferences/Profiles menu.
